Position Title: Director of Worship

Department: Worship Ministry

Reports To: Pastor of Worship

Employment Status: Full-Time 

Position Overview:

The Director of Worship is responsible for leading and facilitating authentic, Christ-centered worship for the weekend services and student ministry while also developing future worship leaders within the community. This individual will work closely with the Pastor of Worship, Director of Student Ministry, and Director of Production to ensure a cohesive worship experience that aligns with the overall vision and values of the church. The role includes both leading worship during weekend and overseeing student services, while equipping other leaders with the skills and spiritual development to lead others in worship.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Worship Leadership

• Lead worship during weekend and student services, events, and special gatherings
• Assist with music for funeral arrangements hosted by the church  
• Work with  the Director of Production to make sure the technology and production personnel are in alignment with the music ministry
• Select and prepare worship music that aligns with the church’s theological vision and resonates with the respective service.
• Facilitate moments of prayer, reflection, and spiritual engagement during worship.
• Collaborate with pastors and ministry leaders to ensure worship services are Spirit-led and Gospel-centered.

2. Team Development and Leadership

• Recruit, train, and mentor a team of worship leaders, musicians, and vocalists.
• Provide spiritual and musical coaching to adults and students, helping them grow in their skills, confidence, and understanding of worship.
• Create a pipeline for future leaders to develop their gifts and take on more responsibilities, including leading worship, choosing songs, and directing rehearsals.

3. Spiritual Development

• Encourage and model a lifestyle of worship both on and off the platform.
• Lead team devotionals, prayer meetings, and times of spiritual encouragement for worship team members.
• Foster an environment of discipleship, accountability, and spiritual growth for all team members.

4. Rehearsals and Preparation

• Plan and lead regular worship team rehearsals.
• Ensure that all musicians are prepared for services by providing song arrangements, charts, and practice materials in advance.
• Stay current with trends in worship music and technology, incorporating relevant elements into the student ministry worship experience.

5. Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with the Worship Pastor, Youth Director, Director of Production, and other ministry leaders to align worship sets and themes with the broader church vision.
• Communicate regularly with worship ministry, scheduling, and providing clear expectations.
• Attend staff or leadership meetings as required.

Qualifications:

• A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to live out biblical principles.
• Experience leading worship in a student ministry or similar context.
• Proficiency in playing an instrument (guitar, piano, etc.) and vocally leading worship.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor others both musically and spiritually.
• A passion for developing young worship leaders and fostering their spiritual growth.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Regular attendance at church services, rehearsals, and student ministry events.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of worship technology (sound systems, lighting, ProPresenter, etc.).
• Familiarity with a wide variety of worship styles and songs.
• Experience discipling and mentoring adults and students.

Time Commitment:

• 40 hours per week (may vary depending on church size and schedule).
